Knitting squares...Thanks everyone for the comments. Knitting squares on the diagonal is easy peasy.
Start off with one stitch on the needle and increase one stitch at the start of every row. Then when the straight side is long enough (6" in my case) decrease one stitch at the start of every row until you are left with only one stitch, and voila! A diagonally knitted square. Doesn't stretch like a straight knitted square.
That's the lesson for today.
Now I have to tackle the crochet problem.Shammickitehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11969803866899076638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3154204376346679777.post-70903168720650191162008-02-04T06:46:00.000-05:002008-02-04T06:46:00.000-05:00Those are beautiful! I can't believe you've already done 50 and need to do more. It would take me a week to knit one 6x6" square on the diagonal. I'm not kidding. Oh i can knit a garter stitch scarf in 2 hours, but that diagonal kills me. I'll bet there are great instructions online to crochet squares together if you can't find anyone nearby to show you.
Oh, and I love chicken pot pie also, altho I haven't eaten it in years. But in that movie, Sweeny Todd (don't read if you're planning on watching b/c here's a big spoiler), they make meat pies in the restaurant. And the meat pies are made with meat that is so distasteful it turns your stomach. So when we went to dinner afterwards and saw Chicken Pot Pie on the menu, we laughed at the disgustingness of it not being made with chicken but actually made with...a neighbor or two.madretzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07773461029643334609noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3154204376346679777.post-69017834547389071092008-02-03T14:52:00.000-05:002008-02-03T14:52:00.000-05:00Make great warm blankets when sewn together.Make great warm blankets when sewn together.imachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14533409255215440113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3154204376346679777.post-29734919737756103772008-02-03T14:34:00.000-05:002008-02-03T14:34:00.000-05:00You're knitting all those squares on the diagonal?...You're knitting all those squares on the diagonal?
