Tiger, Tiger, burning bright.....

A couple of young men broke into the Calgary Zoo yesterday. One of the men got badly mauled by the zoo's Siberian tiger.

Hospital officials said the man's wounds are "significant", but gave no further details.

The tiger said he tasted "G-R-R-R-R-EAT!"

Thankyou, CBC Radio, for that little joke.

  1. We hear of these things every so often and it is so foolish. I think these people need to have their head examined.

  2. what a couple of idiots.....thankfully the tiger will go on with his job of being a tiger. I have to wonder if these men were drunk, on drugs or just born brainless.

  4. What possesses a man to do such a thing?

  5. Sometime the mentally ill do these things. It is a sharp reminder that we are not always at the top of the old food chain.

  6. Dopes. The only thing better would have been for them to somehow escape the tiger only to subsequently fall into a neighboring lion pit.

  7. Did this really happen? I mean the break in and the mauling? If it is true it just once again reassures me how stupid and crazy some people truly are! Why? Why would anyone be dumb enough to do that...
And, if it isn't true...well, that's good! But, it is a rather cruel joke.

I cannot believe that more than 19 months have gone by and Caleb will be turning two in a minute and a half...! And your newest grandchild---Already over 4 months??? Is time just whizzing and flying by for you, too?

  8. That's terrible! When I lived in Toronto I worked for an Ad. Agency and Tony the Horrible Tiger was one of the clients! Well Kelloggs was actually!

At last I have put some photos up of the new grandchildren!

  9. This story reminded me of this woman who jump inside a polar bear cage in Berlin Zoo to swim with the polar bears. She ended up mauled by them. Good thing she was rescued immediately or she could have been bear food.

  10. Haha - I love Tony the Tiger.
Yes, I read this in our Montreal Gazette. Apparently they said the injuries were significant, but then said the man put his arm in the cage and it was mauled. Not the whole person. Not too smart to mess with wild animals!

  11. Hi there Shammickite and thanks for dropping by my blog. Lord knows how you arrived there....I remember as a small boy, my father borrowed a rifle from a local farmer. Dad stood on the landing in the early summer morning in his pyjamas, repeatedly blasting the rooks' nests in the nearby sycamores. Their crime? Waking him from his summer slumbers with their mating and nest-building cawing and squawking.

  12. What's with the crazy people? I just heard of a guy doing the same thing at the San Francisco zoo. He "fell" into the grizzly bear enclosure. No way....
Love the humorous turn on the story.
