A Sad Goodbye

Many bloggers will be aware of the tragic motor accident that took the lives of EG Camera Girl blogger Tina Forrester (http://eastgwillimburywow.blogspot.ca/) and her husband Tom. On Sunday morning I attended a Celebration of their lives at the Royal Canadian Legion in Mount Albert, Ontario.
There were more than 80 friends and family gathered when I got there, and more arriving every minute. Tina and Tom were well loved in their community. I spoke to Tina's daughter, and told her even though I had never met her mother in person, I was one of many "internet friends" and I was representing the many bloggers worldwide who knew Tina through her photographs. I'm so glad I went.
RIP Tina and Tom.

  1. Thank you for attending this memorial. I think you were a representative of those members of the blogging community who would have attended if we could. Tina was special, as a photographer and a person. I'm still having a hard time believing it, believing how we're here one minute and gone the next. Enjoy every minute seems to be one answer.

  2. Shammie, I'm so glad that you were there to represent the blogging community who loved EG so much. I kept thinking how nice it would be if someone could let the family know how much she meant to us. Thank you for that.

  6. So good that you attended her memorial and met her family. It was so sad that such a sadness happened on our blog world. Although I exchanged comments only a few times, remember her blog icon, which was a beautiful Canadian maple leaf. She will be missed.
    Thank you for sharing,Shammic.

  7. Last week I went on her blog to answer her comment and found out about this sad event. I am so pleased that you could attend and represent her blogging friends. Even though we do not see the bloggers, personally, we still feel so close to them after reading their blogs for so long. Tina was so talented. Thank you for going for all of us.

  8. That is truly awful. I do feel for her daughter and other relatives.
It would affect me greatly if I'd been her *blog friend*.

  9. Glad you stopped by my blog and I found yours and this post. I first knew Tina back in the days when few had blogs and Yahoo Groups was the big thing. Over the years we exchanged cards and small tokens as well as emails. Tina was a wonderful and faithful friend. It gives me comfort in some way that you - an internet friend - were able to attend Tina and Tom's memorial. My heart goes out to their daughter at this time.
