Massive water main break on Main Street. Corrosion of the 80 year old water mains. No water for any of the businesses. No parking for a whole day. School buses being diverted. I think it's fixed now. But that fix must have cost a lot. There have been plans to reconstruct this portion of Main Street for a number of years, Time to get it done before it costs even more.
It sounds as if maintenance is long over due.
ReplyDeleteInfrastructure is aged and crumbling here too. Slowly…work gets done to replace it.
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of paving going on here too, both for the town and many of us have had our driveways done.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it seems that the only way big projects get done is when they break and cause problems for everyone. What's that saying? An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure...

Well, we have gone metric in Canada, so no more pounds and ounces.... it would be a gram of prevention is worth a kilogram of cure, but it doesn't sound quite as good, does it.
DeleteHaHa..you are right there..grams and kilograms doesn't have the same ring to it..Sue
DeleteA watermain break up by my cousins has been worked on all summer with intermittent water stoppages. Rather than repair the break they are replacing the entire street.
ReplyDeleteOur main bus transfer location has been under construction since April. They redid the street and also the building fronts. Scheduled to reopen 17th October. We'll have to get used to the old system again soon.
Not the sort of thing you want to see happen.
ReplyDeleteQuite a headache!
