Driving home from the Blue Jays baseball game.
Oldest grandson Callum has passed his driving test so he was behind the wheel, with his dad riding shotgun. A new experience to drive in Toronto traffic at night. I was in the back seat, keeping an eye on things. Always good policy to have a competent back seat driver!
I've only driven in Toronto a few times and the anxiety, oy.
ReplyDeleteWhen I have to go through Toronto, I get into a middle lane and stay there. Argh. It's silly, really, because the four lane controlled access road through Ottawa can be just as bad. But I know it and I think that makes all the difference.
ReplyDeleteI once had to drive out of TO, toward London on the 401 in a blinding rainstorm. I got behind a truck with good taillights and hung to it until the rain eased up.
Good for Callum. The confidence of the youngsters is a constant delight to me.
Well done Callum. I suspect I would have been applying the passenger brakes often. I am not a good passenger and that looks horrendous to me.
ReplyDeleteGood ol' Toronto traffic!
ReplyDeleteI don’t know if I could drive in that traffic now. Rush hour here is enough for me. Your grandson did well.
ReplyDeleteWhen I started driver training in the last century, we weren't allowed to drive at night or in the wet because it was "too dangerous". At some point, logic took over.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. I didn't get my drivers license until I was 24. My late husband taught me how to drive.
ReplyDeleteHaha must have been fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture !
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of big traffic...
Anna
Y tanto que es bueno que lo acompañe un experto conductor, siempre se ha dicho que la experiencia es un grado. Además, de que por el hecho de ser joven no se tiene porque ser imprudente, y seguro que tu nieto lo es.
ReplyDeleteUn cordial saludo.
This made me smile. I agree a competent back seat driver is good to have. That traffic looks a lot like here.
ReplyDeleteOur eldest grandson is called Callum, too, but he's older than your Callum, and a father of two little girls.
ReplyDeleteThat's always a good idea, and especially watching our grandchildren grow up and live out their experiences. That's the life they give us grandparents.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Greetings
Congrats to Callum..
ReplyDeleteAh, young drivers! They can be nerve-wracking! You were brave to be in the back seat!
ReplyDeleteGood work, grandson! Ours has his licence, as well. I learned to drive in inner city Toronto!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter couldn't wait to drive and drives everywhere, even across the country. It's funny that her daughter hates to drive. Sigh... she must take after me more than her mother.
ReplyDeleteA driver’s licence is akin to a rite of passage!
