It was an ordinary Thursday morning. I was ready to go to my Art Group, just one more cup of coffee before I go, and then...... disaster.
I'm not sure how it happened, but the coffee landed in a huge coffee puddle on the floor, my favourite cup smashed to smithereens, and I slipped on the wet tiles, sailed through the air and landed on my right wrist.
I heard the Crunch!
Called 911, Paramedics were marvellous, Ambulance to Emergency where they fixed me up with a temporary cast. Dislocated wrist and two bones broken.
A new cast installed a week later. Did you know that when you get a cast, there's a colour chart to choose from? Purple seemed like a good choice.
And now I am learning to negotiate the world with my left hand. Only 25 days to go. (see ticker at the top of this blog). I can't wait!

Oh dear, so sorry to hear of this fall and injury! I hope the next 25 days SPEED BY until you can function in the world with two hands again! But at least you've got a nice coloured cast, lol.
ReplyDeleteOh owie!!! So sorry. As a leftie, I predict you will be frustrated. May you heal well and completely and fast. Yeah, I go for the purple.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read this and hope the 25 days will fly by.
ReplyDeleteYikes! Sorry to hear this but nevertheless, purple was indeed an excellent choice.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about your wrist and bones - that sounds painful. Anyway, your choice of the color of the case is nice. I’d choose peppermint green if possible.
ReplyDeleteWishing you recovery as soon as possible.
Yoko
Oops.. Godspeed recovery 🙏
ReplyDeleteSorry to read and hope you will be ok soon !
ReplyDeleteIt must be hard to do everything with your left hand !
Take care !
Anna
Sorry to hear this. Hope you are coping with your left hand. Hugs
ReplyDeleteOuch, poor you! The purple is very smart, though. I hope the time passes quickly and you are soon back to normal.
ReplyDeleteHow suddenly these things happen! Scary. But don't worry, you'll be competent with your non-dominant hand in no time. I switched from right to left "mousing" in order to give my right shoulder some relief, and it works so quickly and so well I've continued using my left hand at the laptop for years. Everyone thinks I'm a leftie! -Kate
ReplyDeleteOh no, so sorry to hear this. It seems like I'm always thinking about things like this can happen in an instant. Here's hoping it heals quickly.
ReplyDeleteYikes! My biggest fear is having something impact my dominant hand so I couldn't use it.
ReplyDeleteOops! It happens so suddenly and so innocently doesn’t it? I hope the recovery is swift. How could it be otherwise in a snazzy purple cast?
ReplyDeleteOh no! What a plague. I am sure it hurt like heck too. Are you right-handed? I hope it heals very quickly!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry! You poor thing. I sure hope you heal fast and get back to normal.
ReplyDeleteOh no!!! Very sorry to hear about your crash. I'm hoping the days will go by quickly and you can get it off soon!
ReplyDeleteKay of Musings: OMG! I’m so very sorry for the pain and suffering you’re going through. Yup. I’ve experienced some falls requiring a trip to the Emergency Room too. No fun at all. I was never given an option for color though. I would have picked purple too.
ReplyDeleteChecking in to see how are you are healing. Hope you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your concern, the cast was removed yesterday and the x-rays show lots of healing. Now I have to do the excersises.
DeleteThat's great. Keep up with the exercises and keep it moving :-D
DeleteI sure hope you are healing. I read the comment above and am happy to hear that you got the cast off and are healing.
ReplyDeleteYes I am very happy to get the cast off, but it will take a lot of work to gt everything back in working order, the hand and fingers are very stiff. Thanks for your comment.
