GOAT by William Lishman.
This steel sculpture stands in front of our small Art Gallery, as part of the Sculpture Walk. The artist, Bill Lishman, is well known around here not only for his art and his underground house, but for his experiments with ultra-light aircraft and migration patterns of Canada Geese.You can find more about him here and here.
In 1993, Bill Lishman successfully led a flock of Canada geese on a winter migration from Ontario to Northern Virginia. His ultra-light flight inspired a movie in 1996, you may remember it.... Fly Away Home.

ReplyDeleteI very much like the look of the goat, but I have the feeling that the body is probably not to touch-friendly; kind of sharp? Of course, you're probably not supposed to touch it, it being art and all, so...

ReplyDeleteYou asked me how long we lived in Stouffville...well actually in Stouffville itself about a year. But my husband was student pastor at the Ringwood Christian Church for five years. We were attending Toronto Bible College at the time but were at the church from 1960 -65, but travelled up from Toronto most of the early years. We knew the Waggs, Steckleys, Focklers, Vagues, Mehaffeys, and more. They were great people!

ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me and about your question the the genealogy blog, what got me started? I am always finding new sites and information and forgetting where I found it so it makes it easier for me to document it on my blog, plus later maybe some info that doesn't quite make sense, will fit in later. Also it is nice when people are researching the same names as me and we can connect and share info.
My genealogy addiction comes and goes so it's easy to blog on it. When I get into research, I just paste what I find on my blog but as you can see, I haven't done any research in a few months, trying to get settled into our new house.
I remember seeing "Fly Away Home" on tv. Great stuff.
