Another One!

The only one of my four (four! WOW!) grandchildren who didn't get a crib quilt made by Nana when he was born was Callum, so I had to remedy that ASAP. And here it is. It has his name and birthdate embroidered on the back, just like the others. And a message telling him that his Nana loves him.

I know, he's three and a half and doesn't need a crib quilt now that he's a Big Boy, but I just had to make one for him.
And I've enjoyed making these baby quilts so much that once I get going, I just can't stop.

So I went shopping and added to my fabric stash. (Fabricland had a sale!!!) Today I washed it all, ironed it and folded it, ready to start cutting. Watch this space for more quilts coming this way.

  1. Your quilt is lovely, as are the others that you've shown. Lucky children, blessed nana.

  2. Very handsome quilt! Too bad he missed out on having it in his crib, but can't he drag it around while he sucks his thumb? (that's what all of my kids and grandkids so far have done).

  8. Thanks for the advise on the wind up radio. I've not heard of them, but will be sure to have my son check the stores before the storm hits tomorrow.

  9. I think you are so clever. The quilt is lovely.
Your stash of materials look so inviting!

Was interested to read that you never a felt the earthquake. I should have though that one as big as that would have made itself felt!

  10. Beautiful fabrics. I envy you your talent and patience. What lucky grandkids!

Thanks for your comments on my last post about Steve Jobs. You mentioned Jack Layton. Well, that was one of the reasons I posted about S. Jobs. Somehow, they resemble one another in looks and even though their careers are (were) different, I get a sense of goodness and hard work for each man.

Sadly, I feel that Steve will soon follow Jack. Life can be tough and sometimes it does seem as if the good ones go early.

Sending hugs (glad you are celebrating life - it's wonderful being a grandma!!)

  12. Is it a tradition for a grandma to make a quilt for a new-born baby? You're so talented to make such a lovely one so quick. Your Grands are lucky to have you as a grandma.

  13. I bet Callum is not too old to snuggle under a quilt when he's tired. :)

  14. YAY for Callum getting his own quilt, no matter how old he is! I want one, too. Am I too old??? :)

I'm guessing you'll get lots of commissions if you keep this up!

  15. Beautiful work Shammie. It doesn't make any difference that Callum is 3 1/2. Its still special and his Nana made it just for him.
