Random This Week

Summer is coming to an end. It's been a "Back to School" week. My grandies all have new teachers who they seem to like. My Thursday Art Group is starting up again, Tuesday Line Dancing is back. It's still warm and sunny during the day, but nights are definitely chillier.
A stunning sunset reflecting on storm clouds and a flock of Canada geese flying back to the pond where they roost for the night.
Here's Spidey: A huge spider (a bit out of focus, sorry!) who has been living on my geraniums for the past couple of weeks. It's been fascinating watching him (or her) repair the web each morning and every time an unfortunate fly or insect gets caught, he scurries over to the victim and wraps it up in spider web to save for dinner later.
A handmade quilt quoting the words of our national anthem, "O CANADA", by Canadian filmmaker and artist Joyce Weiland.  I saw many pieces of her work exhibited at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in the picturesque little town of Kleinberg, Ontario.
And the view from one of the windows at the McMichael. A painting in itself! The gallery is situated in ten acres of scenic wooded land with public trails through the trees. The building itself started as a four room log house built with salvaged pioneer hand hewn logs, but has since been enlarged, housing an extensive collection of Canadian art, including many works by the Group of Seven.

  2. Gorgeous skies Shammi, you were lucky to catch the flock of geese.. I often think views from windows, like your window here, make the perfect frame for the great outdoors ☺

  3. I must say I do miss fall in the north! We do get a change of seasons here in Ocala but it's not the same. Love that quilt and the window "painting."

  5. The quilt is an awesome piece of work. The window painting is very nice, I always like scenes like that. The spider has to be clever to plan for his meals each day. :) The birds flying off in that beautiful colourful sky is fantastic. Nice series of photos.

  6. It was so good of you to catch the geese flying! I never have such luck here in ND. The quilt is indeed gorgeous!! I'm somewhat cautious of spiders but they do make beautiful work with that web building. Will read about the McMichael Gallery.

  8. Lovely summer photo collection you have shared. The red sky is beautiful with the geese flying, and the lamp in the bottom is a pretty good impact on your photo!
How wonderful that your grandchildren like new teachers when they have a new start at school. Your spider is pretty and looks fat? Sometimes frame window makes a beautiful art we love.

Thank you for your kind comment for my sister. He was kind and polite man ,and looked quite healthy. Death completes the circle of life, but it is still sad. He was quite fine until his terminal lung cancer turned out. Thank you, Shammic. Have a good day.

  10. I'm so sorry, my friend! I just found a bunch of comment from various people....somehow they did not get to my email and I missed them. I appreciate very much the time and effort you put into checking out my blog and making comments! I shall figure this out at some point but hopefully it won't happen again. :)

  11. When new school year starts, who will be the new teacher is a big concern. Nice to know your grandchildren all like their teachers. In Japan, school year starts in April, so my grandchildren started the second term when sportive and cultural events take place. I like the photo of flying Canada geese in a line in the sunset sky, which made me feel like watching them till they become specks in the distant sky. I also like the picture window at the gallery.

  12. I especially love the view from the window. It really does look like a painting.
I'm really ready for Fall. We have had an entire summer of temps of 100F or more.
    Enough already!
