Abstract art doesn't necessarily have to actually represent anything, or be recognisable, it can just be a pleasing pattern or combination of shapes, forms, colours and lines. It's definitely a departure from reality. And it's very hard for me to get away from reality when I'm surrounded with it! It's an exercise in thinking and painting "outside the box", something I'm not at all good at.
I call this "Lost in Space" because I was really lost in trying to make this look good. Black gesso spattered with white gesso and acrylic paint. I like the swirly shapes. |
More gesso, acrylic paint and collage of bits and pieces of coloured paper. I think I might add more to this, perhaps some coloured markers or acrylic ink. |
Coloured markers on paper. trying to emulate the abstract work of Alex Janvier's circular paintings. I'm not quite sure what I was trying to say here, if anything, but it was fun choosing the colours and shapes. See the face? |
This must be your blue phase. :-)
ReplyDeleteI do like the circular piece. I understand how combinations of colors and designs can be satisfying to an artist. I do get a kick, however, out of the pretensions of some who think it all "means" something, even if it was done by a monkey or elephant. Please don't take that wrong. I love what you've done here. Unless, of course, you tell me that these paintings reveal to the world how it is all going to end. :))
ReplyDeleteThanks for your nice comments. And no, I didn't know you had a grandhorse. I don't think I've ever heard of a grandhorse before...
Love this work, especially the circular one. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI love abstract art, but also found it very difficult to create, back in the day. I love all of yours, you did really well!
ReplyDeleteLovely swirls! I love the pattern in that last shot.
ReplyDeleteOnly painter wieco meant painting abstrakcujny image. Maybe it's just the colors, shapes, and perhaps a vision of something. Your last work I like. * Pepa ran after the frozen lake at the edge, further also would not let her go. Regards.
ReplyDeleteHello,Shammic.
ReplyDeleteThose abstract arts are very powerful. I like the last one. That gives me more imagination I can enjoy.
Have a good day.
You made a title “Lost in Space” fitting to the impression of the painting. The second one looks more playful. I see at least three faces in the last one.

Well done Shammi, very creative.. I especially like the second and third. I love throwing paint at canvas, it's so liberating 😊😊
ReplyDeleteYes, you would have gotten along well with my mum...she was also a good cook and loved to bake and her Swedish Rye Bread was to die for!
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that you ARE pretty good at it!
ReplyDeleteI love the third one!
I like these -- especially "Lost In Space".
