Digging Out

We certainly got dumped on today! About 30cm of snow, the light fluffy kind. It stuck to my kitchen window. It blew off the roof. It blew down my neck. It filled the driveway.

I'm lucky to have a friendly neighbour with a new toy.... a snow blower. It took less than 15 minutes to clear the drive, a task that would have taken a couple of hours of hard labour by snow shovel.

And as I wasn't going to risk venturing out on the snowy roads during the height of the storm, I decided make myself useful by starting on the Christmas decorations.
.
Ahhh... snow falling softly outside, decorated tree inside..... now I'm starting to feel really Christmassy!
If you look closely, you'll see that Santa Claus has already left a giant bottle of wine under the tree. Three cheers for good old Santa!

  1. We got slushy snow instead. It's really windy and wet outside.

Lovely Christmas tree you got there.

  4. We left our snow blower behind when we left New England. It was a useful tool, all right! I miss the snow, but in the abstract.

  5. Think you better either ask Santa for one of those snow blowers or share the bottle under the tree with the neighbor:) Beautiful tree!

  8. It's so pretty! At least from afar and in my warm cozy office chair, hee. I know it is in person, too...we get a lot of snow at our hideaway, but it's certainly more stay at home weather rather than venture out weather. Love the collage of the men and their toys.

  11. Didn't we get a lot of snow this time! We have spent an hour digging out the car this afternoon ~ it was buried under more than a foot of snow and as it is a Mini, it was not easy to spot!

Glad to hear that the neighbours helped you out with their snow blower ~ I would imagine that they are very popular in your street.

Keep warm and enjoy the wine.

  12. We got dumped on too.....several times. No tree yet...maybe next weekend. Do you think the wine will stay untouched until Christmas or will Santa take a nip?

  13. We had a snow blower when we lived in Wisconsin and I loved plowing out my neighbors, suprising them in the morning and the afternoon. It was such quick work with the blower that it was easy to be helpful.

  15. What a nice neighbor to come to your rescue. Your tree looks lovely.
I finally finished our tree this evening. Felt so lousy that it took 2 days to do it. I actually am starting to get into the Christmas spirit now...

  17. You don't know what I'd give for that snowy experience once again, Ex-S! I so miss it. The coziness of it, the camaraderie! And I even like using the grunt-work shovel! What a good work-out! :)

I love that YOU got into the Christmas spirit and decorated. That's what I was doing yesterday as well...but sans snow! :(

  20. To get close-up photos, you will have to switch to "macro" mode --the icon that looks like a tulip flower with leaves. Most point-and-shoot cameras have them.

Good luck with the close-up photos.
