Kitchenation 101

The kitchen renovation plans are continuing.

Here are the "before" pics. Dark brown cupboards with white marble handles, 1960's floral avocado green and burnt orange tiles on the backsplash.
The electric range was purchased when YoungerSon was 10 days old.... he's now almost 27. Only 3 of the top burners work right now. One went POOF! with a pretty blue spark last week.
The fridge has seen better days, it has little watery accidents on the inside sometimes.
And the dishwasher..... well, let's just say that it does the job but it's not a pretty sight.

So I went shopping.

Just window shopping so far, but saw lots of really smart appliances. I originally thought I wanted white, but I'm warming towards the stainless steel look. And I like the idea of the Energy Star appliances that are much more energy efficient.

It's definitely time!

  2. I can recommend the fridge with the lower pull out freezer; have one [white] that is two years old, very good investment.
You could be in for some big bucks with all that steel and then the décor to go with them.

  3. Tastes change, technology changes... not easy to make the right choice and you know that normally you have to live with it for years. ... and somehow I believe you must think about the budget. When I see your kitchen I feel that it is not that urgent. Take your time!

  6. Are you moving to a gas stove? If so, that proves your intelligence immediately! Got to say I still prefer white appliances, but to each his/her own.

  9. You should take your favorite refrigerator magnets or a masterpiece in Crayola to the appliance store. Nevermind, it's probably been done before.

  14. Good work! I love stainless steel, you can't make any mistake with it in kitchen interior. You can make experiments with plastics and wood, but only steel will be the same and perfect after some years...
Take care and many delicious meals!

  15. Alright! A new kitchen! We had ours done a few months ago and I LOVE it! We didn't replace all our our appliances, just the stove so I stuck to black but they are mucho hard to keep clean looking! Especially with so many cats! Have fun shopping.
