Bluebottle

Meet Bluebottle. He's my new 2009 Mazda 3 Sport GT. My very first brand new car ever!

He's got a 2.3l engine, with 5 speed manual transmission. He's Electric Blue. And he's got tons of those newfangled thingummyjiggers that my previous cars didn't have, like electric windows, sunroof, air conditioning, cruise control, CD player, automatic lights and wipers.... I could go on and on....

He's been with me now for about 6 weeks. He's a peppy little chap, and I love him dearly. I try to park far away from other cars to keep him pristine and dent-free BUT... disaster has struck!

I don't know when or where it happened. Some idiot b*****d drove into the back of poor Bluebottle in a parking lot somewhere and then drove away without leaving any note or apology or I.D.
I noticed the dent yesterday.
What a coward.

  3. Congratulations on the new car, and a POX on whoever left the dent.

  4. Oh no.. i hope theirs looks worse.. but I doubt it. Poor Shammie.

  5. Ouch!! That's terrible. Unfortunately, it will not just pop right out. Sheet metal never bends exactly back to the shape it had before. It would take some body work to fix it, and I hope the bits and pieces underneath are still in perfect alignment.

I'm gonna stop just short of wishing a pox on them, but it sure is tempting!

  6. How nice to have a new car. But what a bummer to have it damaged. i'm so sorry that the offender didn't have the courage to leave a note.

  8. What a beautiful little car. I just love the color. So sorry some A**hole hit it then ran. It's called "Hit and Run" and it's illegal. Wish there was a way to catch the culprit.

  12. MP got a dent no bigger than that in her Ford recently and thought we'd get away under our insurance excess of $500. The quote was $1300 so it had to be an insurance job.

Anyway, we've just bought a new Ford Mondeo Turbo Diesel and get it in a couple of weeks. Everything opens and shuts on that too.

  14. It's a shame of course!! Now, if you would have your car in Paris, you wouldn't really care ... all cars have some dents!

  15. horble! the shape of the indent really has me wondering. looks like someone driving a big cone-shaped thing smacked into your wonderful new car. did the b*stard leave any paint scraps behind? grrr....

  16. Great car love the color. sorry about the dent people are such cowards. We had someone put a big crease in the door of our new rave and did not leave any info either. We found a guy here in Spokane that does paintless dent removal he fixed our door in about an hour and you can't even see where the problem was. So get on the internet and see if there is a paintless dent removal in your area. The one here can come to your house and fix your car. Lloyd and Ranger.

  18. I know how that feels, Shammie. Poor you :-( It's so frustrating to see that so many people just don't have the guts to leave an ID when something like this happens.

  19. Oh Dear! I can imagine your feelings!
But I am happy, you are well!!

  22. Bastard who done that to bluebottle, [in Australia the emphasis is on R as in barstard]
    I hope it was not a disgruntled GM or Chrysler manager or dealer ;-}

Congrts to all on the arrival of your grandson too.

I would love to see the caribou that migrated your way.

  24. First of all, congratulations on your first new car! The dent WILL probably pop right out, but now that it's happened, you'll start feeling free to park anywhere. HA! What kind of gas mileage does it get, I wonder??

  25. Oh Shammy, what a rotten thing to happen. I love your car - it reminds me of my own precious little Aussie Barina, although that is now five years old and looking a bit worse for wear. I looked everywhere for a blue car like yours, but had to settle for teal, which is a colour I love anyway. So far I haven't had any 'bumps', but some prick drew a not so nice straight line across the driver's side door with a key or something. I must have parked in his/her spot that day.
