Trees Second Try

I'm not satisfied with the painting shown in the previous post so I tried again.  Always fun to see just how a different technique can change the outcome.

Similar colours, but the backgound was textured with plastic shelf liner, and the trees are acrylic paint marker.  I'll probably have another go at this subject later this week. Sorry, this is a really crummy photo.

  1. Very much more subdued than the previous version. Both have their qualities. In the end, it comes down to 'What you like best' for technique. With me... mine change frequently depending on how I feel, lol.

  2. I dunno...I rather like the first one...it's a bit more "modern" and brighter and makes me feel better than the 2nd. Interesting. The one today is too "muddled" with colors running together.

Hope that makes sense. You are a fine artiste so I will go with whatever you decide. Oui?

  3. I like them both. They speak to different moods. Sometimes I would like to see a 'line-up' of paintings of the same subject done at different times of the day, season, painterly mood...

  4. This one looks like it’s through a wet window. Love it too.

  5. I agree with Marie, it does look like a view through wet window. Very nice, I like this version too.

  6. Both paintings are lovely, but I prefer this one for its milder touch looking like watercolor. The former one is sharper and looks modern. I’m envious of creative people like you.

  7. Good for you. Although I liked the other just fine, you have an idea of what you want to achieve, and you're working on it.

  8. Hi Shammy! Re your question on Ocala: Yes, this is a Live Oak tree. The Ocala area is basically rolling hills covered with these Live Oaks. We also have Water Oaks. They grow fast and big but fill with water and big winds knock them down. One of our favorite things to do is drive out in to the country and look at all the huge horse farms which are covered with Live Oaks.
