March 13 ART and the M Q

This is the latest result from playing around with acrylic paint, rubbing alcohol and plastic sandwich wrap. Up in the top left corner there's a bluish shine, which is an acrylic paint colour called "interference blue".  It looks very pale pink in the tube, looks white when its painted in, and then has that weird bluish glow. Strange stuff. I wonder what it's made of?

And the MQ (see the post title). The MQ is the Meghan Question. I watched most of the Harry and Meghan and Oprah interview last weekend (missed the first half hour), and I'd love to get some comments on what bloggers thought of it. In my opinion, it's all very sad. The idea of marrying a handsome Prince, and becoming a beautiful Princess didn't work out exactly as Meghan had planned.  It was obvious from the start that a divorced mixed race American TV actress wasn't going to fit into the Royal family easily. So now Harry's estranged from his father, and his brother and family, doesn't have a job, and is living far from home. A shame. But that's just my opinion. What do you think?

  1. Love your art, and yes it would be interesting to find out what interference blue is made of.
I haven't watched the interview but question whether going on Oprah is the way to get the privacy they said that they wanted. Archie not being a prince seems to relate to very old rules and is not an example of racism. Given that both are independently wealthy I was surprised at the tone deafness of raising the stop to Harry's allowance - and how many other men of his age get an allowance. I also don't think that airing their dirty laundry in public is any way to get a resolution.
Essentially the interview didn't make me think worse of the Royal Family or better of the couple in question. I may just be a grumpy old woman.

    1. I agree, Oprah would not be my first choice for an interviewer. I am not a huge fan of the Royal family, but I think they were damaged by this public airing of differences.

  2. I didn’t bother with the interview. I admire the Queen but that’s about it.

    1. She is probably appalled by the current situation.

  3. I remember using the interference colors when I did papermaking. A little trip down memory lane there.

    1. Looked it up on the internet: Interference pigments are a polymer emulsion (paint) containing titanium-coated mica flakes. Because they interfere with light waves, technically interference paint is the most accurate term. Painted over a dark color, you see the labeled interference color.

  4. Love your creation - it reminds me of sea foam LOL.
There seems to be a lot about that interview that is now being shown up as lies. I feel sorry for Harry, also, but it was and is his choice to be with her. About Archie being a prince - he can be once Charles is king (as a grandchild of a monarch), but people seem to forget that he could have had a title but his parents didn't want one for him.
I think I will stick to admiring your picture :) xx

    1. For a couple who want to live a private life, they certainly made a very public interview.

  5. I must confess that I did not watch any of the interview and I am confounded by the interest in this couple. Is the earth not warming uncontrollably, are species not vanishing at a terrifying rate, are new COVID variants not threatening all humanity? Is there no more significant news than this couple for whom a silver spoon is still firmly wedged in the mouth? When they first went off to seek relief from the shackles of royalty, they chose Vancouver Island as their destination. Thank goodness California beckoned!

    1. I agree, I'm happy that they left Canada and chose California, where they can bare their souls with Oprah any day they want. We didn't need them here.

  7. There's a really good description of interference blue pigment on Google Shammi, I reckon you could have some excellent fun with it, looks fantastic on your artwork here. I didn't watch the interview either, I definitely don't believe in speaking so publicly about family business, obviously they still crave the attention they fled to avoid ✨

  8. Lovely shades of blue! Blue is my favorite color. I was uncomfortable with that interview and more so when learned the way of editing of that interview. Anyway, British tabloid is scary. I sympathize with Megan for that. But other than that, I felt sorry much more for Queen than Megan. She was so naïve and lacked determination to marry into Royal family. (I respect Empress Masako who mostly overcame hardship.) Archie can’t be a prince according to 1917 rule about great-grandchildren of the Monarch. He’ll be a prince when Prince Charles becomes King. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-56325934

    1. Thank you, I love blue too. Harry and Meghan seem to enjoy the publicity that the interview gave them even though they say they are trying to live a normal life. I have a lot of respect for the Queen.
