March 17 ART plus

I've been using up pre-painted canvas boards and playing with paint again, with varied results.  None of my efforts are any where near anything I might like to frame and hang on the wall, but it keeps me sane and busy and otherwise out of trouble during the endless Covid days. Although the restrictions here are easing up quite a bit, there are still too many new infections reported, many of them attributed to the variants, and new deaths every day.

I've also completed the needlepoint project that I started sometime in the 1990s. It sat in a sewing bag in the basement for a long time before I retrieved it. Now I have to decide what to do with it. Perhaps a 12"x12" frame?

Now that the clocks have changed to the daylight savings, I was up early enough to see the sun coming up behind the trees. That doesn't happen often. I mean me seeing the sun, not the sun coming up. That seems to happen on a regular basis whether I'm there to see it or not.
And today is a big day for me.... the hair salons are finally open and I am going to get my first proper haircut since the middle of November. I can hardly wait!

  1. Love both of your creations. Your sunrise is much more dramatic than most of ours (and I do see them regularly).
You will possibly float home today with the removal of your hair - such an uplifting thing to be able to do again.

  3. I've just realised that diamond drill paintings look a lot like needle point. Love the top painting.

I have another month to wait for a haircut. I'm counting the days!

  4. Our rural health unit which had been doing so well has gone orange and likely will go red. Some schools have shut down. The third wave is upon us.

    1. I saw the news that you could be going "red" in the future. Recovery is going to take a long time!

  7. Hello! I’m happy for you about your haircut. I think how lucky I am to have had my hair done every two months. New coronavirus variant looks to be more formidable. Let’s not loosen our code of action. The early morning sky is glorious. Thank you for your thoughts of Tohoku people. I hope your late father live in peace another world and watch over you. I was born three days later, pi, in the different year. Take care.

    1. Hello Yoko: I hope you enjoyed your pi birthday! Yes, it was very nice to lose my Covid lockdown hair.... it was far too long. I always remember March 11, for two reasons.

  8. Oh Shammie, I really know what you mean about the haircuts.
I had my first perm last month. It had been 14 months since my previous one. Too much giving myself haircuts...no curl left...so happy for a proper do !!
Love your needlepoint. Definitely frame it.
Today my son Mark goes back home to Oregon. I have loved having him to myself (for the most part) and yes, we did lots of errands a d he has done some much needed work in our home..grab bars in the bathroom, new toilet seats. New fan/light combo in our family room, new keyboard for Dave's desktop and cooking breakfast for the two of us. Terrific times and lots of catching up with each other. Gonna miss him so much. We still don't know when Dave is coming home..I think I will know more after he has a consultation with some Doctors.

    1. I'm not sure my new style could be considered daring, but I used to have it really short and now I'm trying to tame some of the extra Covid growth.
