The MMVAs

Toronto's Queen Street West was a hive of activity outside the MuchMusic building all week. Enormous structures being built, complete with lights, huge speakers, miles and miles of cables, and gawking tourists, what's goin' on?

It's the MMVAs, or, to explain further, the annual MuchMusic Video Awards. In other words, a giant street rock'n'roll party will take place here on Queen Street and be televised live on Sunday night.

The Jonas Brothers will be hosting the party ( I can hear the screams already), and appearances by Lady Gaga, the Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Clarkson, Nickelback, Shiloh, Billy Talent, Alexisonfire.... who I am convinced are all household names in your homes, right?
NO? I'm shocked.

It's gonna be a wild time along Queen Street on Sunday!
But I won't be there.

  1. It's probably more interesting to see the setup than the actual show. Especially when you're behind the camera.

I can remember a time when Billy Talent was a household name in my home since he/they went to the same highschool that my sons attended just a few years later.

  2. Very interesting to see how they rig up the stage.
The show happens to be unknow here in Norway. But I'm it it will be great.

Yesterday we had an outdoor concert here in Oslo with over 100.000 spectators. Several artists where playing among A-ha might be "familiar" to you.

And we are going to a concert this eveing. Five diferent bands plays to the benefit of a yacht club, from the district where and work at school.

  4. Wild times a bit past you now? Me too!

We've been around your area twice now and regret we never made it into Toronto. At least we know where to find a good guide if we ever get there again.

  13. Whoa... what a production!! I love to see what it takes to put something on like this from concept to clean-up. The end result, when done well, seems so spontaneous, doesn't it?
