Victorian doorway

The elegant front entrance of a Victorian home in my neighbourhood.

This is a red brick house built in 1884 by Abraham Pipher, a local carpenter. He must have been a skilled carpenter as there's lots of decorative woodwork on this home. Enlarge the picture to see the detail around the door frame. The house has been painted white for as long as I can remember.

I love the picture of the doorway. There is something about doorways - I can not explain what it is... maybe an invitation.

  10. I've always loved Victorian houses! You'll find many of these heavy, wooden doors here in Switzerland, too. Lovely!

  12. Well, that is a elegant door I must say. We have a habit of photographing doors on our trips. We just started one day. And there is many doors in the world :-)

When we were in London and Dublin we tried to find doors and there were plenty - but we always seemed to spot the good ones when we didn't have the camera with us or when it was raining.... *giggles*
