Random ramblings from the cluttered brain of a Brit ex-pat North Devonian trying to keep cool in the steamy summers and warm in the frosty winters of The Great White North.

Going to Church tomorrow?
Church authorities removed this sign after they received complaints from the community. A little bit of bad judgement , I think. Photo "borrowed" from the Toronto Star.
Have been focusing a lot on my children lately, with the birthdays (thank you for the comments :-) !) and felt it was time for some focus on him and me :) !
I thought the sign was funny. I wonder who was offended... I noticed your other blog, and wanted to as you, how do you set up a blog where more than one person can post?
You gotta laugh though, right? As for the meme.....you are quite a woman...smart, well traveled, love your family and appreciate all that life has to offer....I'm glad we are friends.
Since I don't agree with the majority I just won't comment. lol. When it snows in this part of Georgia lots of things just close down. Just found out we aren't having church tomorrow due to our icey roads.
:) it was funny you must say and if you understand that it was not humor but their innocence that got them into trouble. The real shame is on the community who obviously had a dirty mind and I bet, never made it to church.
When I taught in Nottingham I caught a bus to school. The route passed a church, ouside sign read, "If you are tired of sin come inside!" Underneath somebody had written, "And if you are not, call me on this number!" How Ilaughed each morning!
Since my dad was a preacher and had to always put up his own signs, I had quite the laugh. Even though I could never see him putting this up, I actually think he'd get a chuckle out of it. (People need to lighten up a bit!)
Humour or not (I would rather say “yes”), but this kind of signs and messages outside a church here in France (or in most European countries) is impossible to imagine. Much more conservative style here (but of course hardly anybody goes to church any more).
A good sense of humour... shame it was not liked.

p.s. I forgot to mention you photo. Is it one near you? Don't quite know what would happen if any of our local churches put that up!

ReplyDeleteYou funny lady, you!!!
This is a great sign--but I then I suppose Christians might be offended by it.
ReplyDeleteperhaps I spoke too soon...
ReplyDeleteprobably some Christians think it's funny.
now that I have read all of the comments!
Hilarious, it cheered my friends and I up. Anymore like this to brighten up a dismal day in the U.K.?

ReplyDeleteWell, compared to other "advertisments" along the road, what's to be upset about this message?
ReplyDeletehahahee! Thanks for the giggles!! That's a funny one. :D
ReplyDeleteLooks like it probably had some "shock value". It is kind of funny...but I can't imagine a church putting that up.
