Random ramblings from the cluttered brain of a Brit ex-pat North Devonian trying to keep cool in the steamy summers and warm in the frosty winters of The Great White North.

Decluttering - Step 1
The first step to decluttering the kitchen...... tidying up the cookbook shelf.
I received the Good Housekeeping Basic Cookery book as a school prize.... for Progress.
for progress? is that one step up from effort? or further along than that? Cold weather is a good time to de-clutter, (today we had very warm temps--in the forties! Must make hay while the sun shines, so my housework and work project was temporarily abandoned and I wandered and walked for most of the day.) The weather people say a real cold snap is coming.... so I'll be inside de-cluttering too.
LOL, LOL...Well, it certainly is a good place to start. If I tried to de-clutter my Bedroom, for instance, it would no doubt take me a GOOD Month....maybe more. I would show a picture or two of it if it wasn't as embarassing as it is....OY! GOOD LUCK!
When you're done there.... I need to do some serious decluttering, too!
Loved your Rabbie Burns post, BTW. My dad played the pipes, and piped in the haggis more times than I can count... Still brings tears to my eyes to hear the pipes, so I don't dare attend anything where they will be played.
How funny. I was just looking at my cookbook collection at the hideaway this weekend, thinking that I need to get rid of some of them! Once again, parallel lives across the continent.
I have a sister that won a Betty Crocker cooking award....a week after she set our kitchen on fire!!! don't we call that ironic? (and Shannon and my MIL were in India the first week of Jan 2009.....they were in Singapore and decided to fly to India. Something my MIL wanted to do before she dies.....she IS 88 after all(and in VERY good health!)...haha)
The same book as this one?
ReplyDeleteI need to do that and get rid of a whole bunch. I've given so many away. I hardly cook any more, but I do like to read them and look at the pictures.

ReplyDeleteVery neat! I need to follow your excellent example. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGood for you! We also need to do some serious decluttering here, too!
ReplyDeleteI spent months decluttering before our move to V., three years later I could go right back to that job. :-(
ReplyDeleteFunny they would give you a cookbook.
Hi, Blimey i wish a de-clutter of our Kitchen/house was as easy as yours, we have qbout 50 areas worse than that, bikerbob.
ReplyDeletebikerbob: this is just the start!!!
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of great books out there on how to de-clutter a bookshelf. --just kidding. But there are, no. (yes!)

Is it that time of year over the water?? This is the second blog I have visited that is decluttering and tidying up!!!
ReplyDeleteWinter is a good time to declutter. Since we're inside anyway, might as well do it. In good weather my housework just doesn't get done. LOL!
ReplyDeleteAll my cookbooks are in a cupboard where they have taken residence since we moved here. I really need to get them organized too.
ReplyDeleteany haggis left over?
ReplyDeleteneatening things up is strictly for the humans
ReplyDeletedecluttering - i love it

The first thing my daughter asked for after she moved to the UK was the Good Housekeeping cookbook.
