It started out like this last February.
I never really did get any lessons on how to crochet between all the squares, so I made it up as I went along.
So now it's the official NanaBlankie, especially made for cuddling with grandchildren on the sofa while reading stories or watching movies.
It's beautiful! Hand knit and crocheted things are so precious. I have a tablecloth my grandmother crocheted out of very fine-weight thread.
ReplyDeleteI can see Callum and you snuggling for many years to come.
Looks good to me! Well done - lovely and cosy, and probably the best NanaBlankie ever!
ReplyDeleteSue
That's a lovely NanaBlankie. I just suddenly spotted that there's another grandchild on the way. How exciting!
ReplyDeleteOh, another grandchild! I hadn't noticed that before. Congrats! You'll just have to make another NanaBlankie!
ReplyDeleteYippeeeeeeee!
Love the colours.
That's the best official reason for a blanket I've ever seen. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt seems your "made-up" stitch worked perfectly. Everybody should have a NanaBlankie.
ReplyDeleteNot Sammy's work.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blanket looks like you did a wonderful job. I am going to try to post to my blog at least three times a week so keep visiting.
ReplyDeleteLloyd and Ranger.
I think it is utterly charming and unique and Absolutely Perfect!
ReplyDeleteA Peice Of Art!!
Just the thing for snuggling.
ReplyDeleteI love it.
xx
It'll be a great heirloom for them, too. They'll fight over it! I agree it is a piece of art!
ReplyDeleteLove the Blankie, I have recently made some 'lap blankets' for the colder evenings, in my lounge. I have now recieved requests for them by my daughters!!!
ReplyDeleteI love all the colors! Fifty years from now, your Grandchildren will look at one another, smile and say, "Remember cuddling up with Nana under the NanaBlankie?"
ReplyDeleteNice job! A whole bunch of work, that. I'm sure they'll snuggle warmly and remember fondly.
ReplyDeleteOH It's LOVELY!! Great job on the Nanblankie!!
ReplyDeleteSweet moments inside this NanaBlankie with Callum or a good book or a fine film. . . .
ReplyDeleteit's beautiful and it looks extraordinary--not like the typical patch ones. looks soft too.

ReplyDeleteHi………
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely fantastic post! Good job!
Great!
Love crocheted into a blanket. Beautiful. What a keepsake!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your profile, I see we have a lot in common: two grown sons, two (almost) grandbabies!! Yay for grandchildren! (we really SHOULD have had them first!)
loverly....great nana blankie lessons or not.
ReplyDeleteWonderful idea. It's so colourful and I bet you give great hugs. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI can just see it, Sham, the two of you all snuggled up and...taking a nap, of course! :) Nicholas and I did that a lot in the hammock on our screened-in deck. He loved it, and so did I. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this blankie i might have to try this myself as i can't seem do much except a simple knit and simple crochet, Tell me how you did this?
ReplyDeleteDid you do the little squares first and then the crochet, were the squares the same size?
Now to answer your question about people getting baby kitties to feed to there snakes? I really don't know and never even thought about that till i got on Craig's list and several people put the comment in that they know or have heard of it, who would think someone would do that? And then yesterday i got on Craig's list and someone had a add on wanting mice and rats, and gerbils to buy to feed there snake.
Well i must tell you i did find a nice place that is a no kill shelter and they are going to find homes for the kitties. they also sent me to a place that does the free spay and neutering and all there shots and micro chipped which the shelter is paying for. Altho i am going to donate funds and i also told them i would be happy to foster kittens when they need it.
Although i am very sad to get rid of momma cat and babies, but i just can't keep them. We get so attached
i love it!
