My mother back in England used to call them "chrysanths" but here in Canada they're called "mums".... which I always find rather a weird name.... but I love the colours. These beauties are on display at the nursery just around the corner near my house.
I came home with two pots of dark red ones. I just couldn't resist their happy faces.
Those are lovely. I guess fall is in the air. It's still quite warm here in Florida.
ReplyDeletemy very first job was working in a greenhouse potting mums. I hated mums for years because of it but they've grown on me again and now I think they're very pretty, especially when they are fully bloomed. Such a happy flower!
ReplyDeleteWe call them "Mums" here too....These are really gorgeous! I douldn't resist either, my dear...!
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS MY FOURTH TRY WITH THE WORD VERIFICATION!!!! AAARRRGGGHHHH!
My mum loves these and has them scattered in the jungle that she calls a garden.
ReplyDeleteA few years ago my wife bought a deep red one - but the following year it flowered orange (which she hates), so it was rapidly dug up again...
So many beauties with colorful chrysanthemums! They put smile on my face. The air must be heavy with their scent!
ReplyDeleteGreen Tomato,Tomoko.
My favorite is when they're advertised as "Hardy Mums". Does that mean there are "Weak As Watered Down Milk Mums"?
ReplyDeleteI call them chrysanths too, but I have seen them advertised as 'Pot Mums'. These are beauties and yes they are happy flowers.
ReplyDeleteYour mum calls them Chrysanths? Well then on this side of the pond, peoples' mums should be called...
ReplyDeleteOh, that's not going to work at all, is it?
They're lovely flowers.. even if they do signify the end of summer.
ReplyDeleteThey're so dependable when everything else has decided to stop blooming. Lovely colors in your shots. 13eriales

ReplyDeleteThey make a beautiful display.
ReplyDeleteJust love "mums". Yours are gorgeous. Thanks for stopping by my blog. No, I don't seem to be at the computer much these days. Too nice outside. Once the cold weather starts, I'll be thinking of posting once again.
ReplyDeleteTake care and enjoy the fall.
On Saturday Astrid came home with enough mums to fill the balcony planet. THIS is the time of year for them! I love them, too!
ReplyDeleteMine that I planted last year are massively large, but the flowers haven't come out yet. I can't wait. Their blooms remind me of Fall.
