Return of the Lost Blogger!

I know, I know, it's been far too long. Did you miss me? I'm not sure why I neglected this blog for 3 months, but I'm back, and I intend to keep on blogging. It's been a brutal winter here in Southern Ontario, with ice storms destroying trees and hydro services, and bitter temperatures. In fact, so cold that it seems that I have been trapped indoors all winter, with no opportunity to get outside and enjoy the snow with my grandchildren. I'm deliriously happy to see some sunshine and feel the warmth of the sun at last.

I've been continuing with art classes, and really enjoying it. This is my latest painting. I'm not sure if it is finished or not. It's at the stage where I'm scared to do anything else to it, although Colin says there are too many hard edges. Perhaps the door needs more detail or texture. And I think it's a bit too blue......

Party at the weekend.... grandson Isaac will be five. Menu (birthday boy's choice): BIG sandwiches with pickles, cheese and mayo AND a big "chunk-er" of chocolate cake. Sounds good, right?

  1. Glad you found your way back Shammickite, lol. Sounded a very cold Winter for you out there! brrr.

As for your painting, I really like it. If you feel it needs more work, then put it to one side for a few weeks, then look at it again with fresh eyes. Personally, I would say it is completed. Looking forward to seeing more paintings.

  2. welcome back! I'm sorry your winter was so brutal. You've been missed!

Your painting is amazing. I thought you were going to post about a visit to a museum and you were going to explain about the famous artist's process! I honestly thought it was museum quality!

  4. Welcome back, glad you survived the winter!

That picture is great - the house is perfect, maybe the plants could be softened a little, but it is your painting don't let others tell you what to do with it!

  5. I'm glad someone has the will to keep the lines of communications open. You could always visit here next winter and I can guarantee no ice storms or anything to do with bitter.

  7. I like your painting just fine. Sometimes you can do one brush stroke too many -- or so I've been told.

  8. Welcome back, Yes, I missed you!
Glad that you have been continuing with art classes! Your painting is wonderful. Lovely atmosphere in your work!

I still keep a piece of water painting and some birthday cards my mother made.

I used to go to an oil painting class when I was young. I still love paintings, though I haven't picked up my brushes for a long long time!

    Have a good day!

I have missed you. Sometimes we definitely need to take a break. I've taken a few mini ones and it really does recharge the juices.
Hope the sunshine perks you up and keep up the art classes. I like what you have done.
