Water Works

An army of hunky young men just installed a lot of new sod (I mean turf if you are British) at the back of the complex where I live, and we've had the sprinklers going full blast. We've had hot days with no rain for quite a while and the temperature is predicted to reach 35C (95F) today.

I hate to waste precious water when it's in short supply. But we have to have green grass, no matter what.

  2. Brilliant photo, but remind me, what's this you say about hot days with no rain and temps predicted to reach 35c business...a distant memory here! I reckon you got it right when you said about the sod! lol.

  3. I wish you could send a little of your sunshine over here - we most certainly don't have any need to water the gardens!

  6. Newly lain sod has to have lots of water, doesn't it? It has been hot here this week, then today it is not so hot. I was able to get some yard work done yesterday early in the morning. I didn't want to get up that early but it is the only time it is cool enough outside. I was soaking wet with sweat anyway.

  7. Love the green grass but not the too hot weather. Today it's suppose to be 103 and tomorrow 105.
Think I will be staying indoors most of the time.

  8. I feel a little spoiled because it hasn't been above 70 in several days. Today we went out wearing long sleeves and jackets, I think the high was 65F, windy and foggy. Our summers are notoriously cold.

  12. It breaks my heart that my lawn is dry, gold and crispy. I can't bring myself to water it, and as hot as it has been here, it would have taken a LOT of watering to keep it green. Enjoy your new turf.
