Surprise!

First significant snow of the winter was the sight that greeted me this morning, not really a surprise as it was forecast by the friendly weather lady on the telly....... however, the middle of November is a bit early for the white stuff in my humble opinion.
The view through the front door.... I haven't actually opened it and stepped outside yet.
.... and the view into the back yard.
I hope this isn't the start of a severe winter! Thank goodness we put the snow tires on last week.

Update later in the day: I've been finishing a painting, and listening to the classical music radio station, and watching giant snowflakes float to earth.... it's actually magical! Everything is covered in a white fluffy blanket. Snow may make life very inconvenient at times, but it's really beautiful!

  1. Definitely looks like a significant amount of snow, and yes, seems a little on the early side!! Have a great weekend.

  2. From someone who is rarely blessed with snow its beauty is forefront for me.
That said, I can understand that it would get a bit wearing.
Stay warm, stay safe, stay creative.

  4. My kind of weather! It's coming down here too at present.

In regards to your comment, the previous location for the War Museum is between the National Gallery and the Royal Canadian Mint. The building is now used partially by one of those two, but also houses a think tank for the Aga Khan's foundation. I've been inside once after the think tank opened.

  7. " ... it was forecast ..."

You write like I do. I am finding a lot of people are now adding an "ed" ending to such words.

    1. Now you have me wondering.... is "forecast" a verb or a noun, should it have "ed" on the end????

  8. I really love snow...for about 5 minutes. That's enough for the entire year. Snow requires youth and energy and strength. I have none of those things anymore. :) Don't overdo the shoveling, Shammy!

    1. Happily I live in a place where someone else does the shoveling!

  9. I was envious of the first snowfall on the lingering colored leaves and now of this substantial snow, although I agree it’s a little bit too early for November. I like your front door. It’s like uncolored stained-glass which reflects the color of nature outside.

  10. Absolutely magical Shammi.. when I see gorgeous shots like these and hear the way you describe your day, it sounds perfect. I sometimes feel a wee bit deprived living in a warmer weather country.. but only a wee bit :)

  12. This is a so quiet post. I am just listening to the sound falling snow.
Thank you for sharing such beautiful glass windows with snow.

My brain is still in the early autumn.

    Have a good new week.

  13. Hi Shammy! Thanks for the nice comment on Ocala. It's always nice when someone agrees with me. Obviously, you're a very smart person. And you arrange for others to shovel the snow. :)

  14. Snow is beautiful as long as you don't need to be out in it, especially driving.

  15. Reminds me of how much I loved looking out our first home’s picture window at snow falling with the fireplace crackling and popping when we lived in the Midwest U.S.
