Sunny Sunflowers

A field near my house is covered with sunny sunflowers.... not the spectacular giant 10 foot high variety, but smaller with more blooms.  I was told that the farmer went to the local Costco and bought bird seed grade sunflower seed, and this field is the result.  That's an awful lot of bird seed.

  1. A HEAP of bird seed. A field of them in bloom always lifts my spirits.

  4. Some years, a nearby farmer has a sunflower field that we can walk through. Not so this year. Sadly.

    1. The birds know exactly where this field is, and probably are telling all their friends too!

  6. Lovely photo. Will he harvest it for bird seed? That is a lucrative market if you are connected. Canary seed is a huge crop in Saskatchewan and is useless for anything but feeding canaries.
